Brief Ottawa Senators Jersey History
The Ottawa Senators jersey has been the current design since 2007, using the colors of red, black and white with a trimming of gold which actually looks more yellow. The colors are based on country colors as well as Roman colors, joining with the name Senators.
Over the years the team colors have gone from predominantly black to mainly red. However, in 2008 a third jersey was introduced that was back to the original coloring. It is still used today as the alternative jersey, while red is for the home games and white is for away.
The Senators have gone through various logos. However, they mainly opted for a Roman solider to match their name, with a shield. The older logo used between 1991 and 2007 also included chariot wings behind the soldier’s head. There is also an alternative logo used on the third jersey, which simply says Sens. It is written in white with a red outline so that it stands out on the black top.
The current logo used on the main Ottawa Senators jersey has been used since 2007 and still features the Roman solider with the shield. The logo is made to stand out by using a black outline and to help add detail.
