Brief Buffalo Sabres Jersey History

Most teams opt for one or two colors as their official team colors however there are four colors within the Buffalo Sabres jersey; blue, gold, silver and white. These colors have been used since the creation of the team in the 1970s although there have been other colors used during that time too.

The logo has been through changes over the years that the team has been playing. The most common logo known was the circle with crossed sabres and a buffalo at the top. This is the current one being used for the new season. However, there have been alternative logos and new ones designed during the Sabres’ time. A well-known alternative logo is the black and red design with the circles and crossed sabres for the use on the first ever third jersey created for the team. At this time, the main team colors were red, black and gray.

There have been other logos used such as a buffalo head in white with black and red outlining, and most recently, the yellow and blue buffalo that looked very similar to a slug. This logo was not well liked among fans and the team has gone back to the original version but with the newer team colors. The home jersey is navy blue and the away jersey is white, with a lighter blue for the third Buffalo Sabres jersey.
